Born in Queens, New York, Brian Hyland sky rocketed to the top of the charts in 1960 reaching #1 with the classic novelty song "Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini." At the age of 17 his prolific career was launched and the string of hit records and collaborations that followed, spanning eleven years, speak for themselves.
1962 saw "Sealed With A Kiss," one of the most memorable "summertime" ballads of our time, reach #3 in both the U.S. and British charts. In addition, songs like "Ginny Come Lately," and "The Joker Went Wild" reached the top 20.
Brian's chart success continued throughout the 1960's but one of his biggest records was yet to come. It was his collaboration with long time friend, artist and producer Del Shannon that shot Brian back to #3 in the nation with the soulful rocker, "Gypsy Woman."
Recording hit records for five different labels that ranged from novelty to pop ballads, folk rock to country and soul, Brian's talent runs deep and his silky smooth voice proved timeless. In addition to his U.S. success, Brian's hit records traveled the world reaching the top ten in The United Kingdom, parts of Europe, Australia and all across Asia. In the U.S. and abroad, Brian continues to perform for packed houses performing over 100 shows per year!
When he's not touring, Brian continues to write and record at his home in California with his wife and writing partner Rosmari and their son Bodi on the drums. "Brian Hyland's Greatest Hits," an 18 track CD is available on MCA records and he has just finished a collection of new material entitled "Turquoise Moon," an independent release for CD/CS. |
